Local Service Team

Ballard Sunday Dinners

Our Ballard Sunday Dinners are offered each Sunday evening to our neighbors in need since May of 2016.

Amazing Grace rotates with several other local churches, providing dinner one Sunday a month at nearby Ballard First Lutheran Church. Before the pandemic, we served as many as 60 guests for a full hot meal, seated in the Fellowship Hall of the church.

During the pandemic, we are serving take-away dinners to 20-30 guests per week.  Our team draws from our own congregation and their friends, and members of Sustainable Ballard, a local grassroots sustainability nonprofit.

Gift of the Month Club

Each month we choose a charitable activity supporting a local organization organization providing services.  Some are long-standing traditions, some change each year.  The pandemic has interfered with some of our activities, but others continue.

For example:

Soup-er Bowl – our annual co-opetition with Center for Spiritual Living-Seattle and other CSL congregations to collect canned foods and funds for the food bank each chooses.  Amazing Grace supports Ballard Food Bank, a multi-service food bank serving our neighborhood and beyond.

Wellspring Family Services – each December we collect gifts and gift cards for homeless and recently housed children whose families are supported by this multi-service agency.

Chief Seattle Club – each November we collect funds for this Native-led housing and human services agency, in acknowledgment of the history of this land.

The Bridge Care Center – we collect clothing and other supplies for this organization serving women and men experiencing homelessness or economic hardship in our Ballard neighborhood.
